Dead World: sample of upcoming story

Shell-scarred wastelands topped with drifting, irradiated ash covered the once verdant plains of Sepulchre. Through the trenches wove gas and dust, through piles of half-vaporized humans and clouds of flies laying their eggs in fetid corpses. Mud marked with footprints, both human and decidedly not, lay in stagnant pools where forests had once been. Decades of warfare had left the entire planet a ruin, a shell of its former self. Not fit for any higher form of life, let alone human habitation or colonization…
